CHAUMET. Exceptional "Paon" brooch in 18K yellow gold, finely chased in filigree or striations, and platinum (with diamond pavement forming the animal's crest). Set with numerous cabochon-cut Birman (pigeon's blood) rubies, cabochon-cut Ceylon sapphires and Ceylon sapphires of various sizes forming the animal's plumage, all the gemstones (rubies and sapphires) are engraved in a setting sprinkled with brilliant-cut white diamonds (including one forming the peacock's eye) and a few brilliant-cut rubies. Guarantee hallmarks (eagle head and dog head), "J.C." hallmark (Joseph CHAUMET) and "CHAUMET" engraved on the pin. Circa 1960. Gross weight: 38g45. 10.5 x 4.5 cm.
